Brasilia - Brazil and Argentina signed, last week, an agreement to intensify the exchange of taxes information to fight both fiscal evasion and double taxation. The document reinforces the convention on the same subject, signed by both countries in 1980. The agreement was signed by the Secretary of the Federal Revenue and Customs Secretariat of Brazil, Jorge Rachid, and by the Head of the Federal Administration of National Revenue (AFIP, in Spanish), of Argentina, Alberto Abad.

According to the Press Service of Brazil’s Revenue Secretariat, Jorge Rachid said it is necessary to intensify fiscal evasion combating. He says that the close relations between the two countries have facilitated the agreement. "The idea is that the exchange of information will strengthen fiscal relations between the two neighboring nations", affirmed the Secretary.
