Brasília - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva participated today in the meeting of Latin American and Caribbean Chiefs of State and Government, in Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic. The agenda covered the fight against hunger and poverty, the promotion of sustainable development, trade and investments, and the start of negotiations for a free trade agreement between the Mercosur and the countries of Central America and the Caribbean.

Tomorrow (18), the Presidential committee will travel to Port-au-Prince, in Haiti, where they will visit the Brazilian troops assigned there as members of the United Nations Peace Force.
