São Paulo, March 5, 2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The internationalization of many Brazilian enterprises is a possibility, and the moment is favorable, but it is necessary for the government to have a plan for this. This was the assessment made by the Minister of Development, Luiz Fernando Furlan, in a talk at the seminar "Internationalization of Brazilian Enterprises, a Strategy for Development."

The gathering was organized by the Spanish bank, Banco Bilbao Viscaya Argentaria, and was also attended by the director-general of Trade and Investment of Spain's Ministry of the Economy, Enrique Alejo, who presented the Spanish program of incentives for the internationalization of his country.

For Furlan, the Spanish experience that "should serve Brazil" involves the establishment of objective rules, such as the guarantee of profitability, adjustment to standards of quality, and means to prevent double taxation. (DAS)
