Angola wants to open consulate in Pernambuco

Recife, March 5, 2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Angolan Ambassador to Brazil, Alberto Correia Neto, announced today to the governor of Pernambuco, Jarbas Vasconcelos, his country's desire to install a consulate in the capital of the state. The representation would be another means to identify trade relations between the governments of Pernambuco and Angola, which is undergoing a reconstruction phase, following 42 years of war, the Ambassador explained.

According to the Ambassador, the government of Pernambuco can encourage entrepreneurs to invest in the restoration of bridges, roads, houses, hospitals, and systems of communication. Correia Neto said that his country is also interested in importing foodstuffs and tropical fruit produced in the São Francisco Valley region. (DAS)
