Brasília, 1/26/2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Constantino Tsallis, professor and researcher at the Brazilian Center for Physical Research (Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas) (CBPF/MCT), has been awarded the 2003 Science and Technology Prize of Mexico.
The annual prize given by the government of Mexico, worth R$115,000, is the most prestigious award given to Latin American and Iberian peninsula scientists. The prize has been in existence since 1990. This is the third time a Brazilian has won it. (AB)
