São Paulo, 12/24/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva declared that in 2004 the priority will be jobs. "Next year we will get everybody involved in the quest for employment for Brazilians," he said. Lula went on to say that it is not enough to have the economy grow. He pointed out that in spite of growth and technological advances, there are times when companies increase productivity and profits but do not open jobs. "Sometimes they even lay off more people," said the president. (AB)
