Porto Alegre, 9/5/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Expointer 2003 reports that 611 animals have been sold worth R$1,547,873 so far at the event. Organizers of the fair and exposition, one of South America's largest, say that they expect animal sales this year to be 30% above last year. As for farm machinery and equipment, expectations are even higher. In 2002 farm machinery and equipment sales totalled R$125 million. Estimates are that this year they will top R$200 million. In the first five days of the fair, 85,504 paying visitors entered, leaving R$541,996 in gate revenue. (AB)
