Brasília, 6/19/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Next week minister of Education, Cristovam Buarque, will be in Paris for the World Conference on Superior Education +5. The conference is sponsored by Unesco and will be opened by the minister who will present a Brazilian proposal for improving the universities of the future.
Yesterday, Buarque participated in a nationwide teleconference with Brazilian university rectors. According to the minister, the university needs to undergo a rethinking in order to update it and get it out of its present isolation, so it can continue to be involved in the social issues of the day.
