Rio,12/11/2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) – The General Price Index - Domestic Availability (IGP-DI) for November was up 5.84%, an increase of 1.63 percentage points over October, which was 4.61%. According to the Fundação Getúlio Vargas, the spike in the IGP-DI is a consequence of pressure by retail prices (Índice de Preços por Atacado) (IPA), which rose 7.45% (an increase of 1.43 percentage points over October), and consumer prices (Índice de Preços ao Consumidor) (IPC), up 3.14%. Meanwhile, building costs (Índice Nacional do Custo da Construção) (INCC), rose 2,45%.
Farm produce prices, which rose 8.65% in October, rose only 8.42% in November. But industrial goods prices, up 4.96% in October, jumped 7,05% in November.
The cumulative rise of the IGP-DI for the year is now 23.09%, and 23.22% for the last 12 months. (AB)
