São Paulo, December 9, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Senator-elect from the Workers Party (PT), Aloizio Mercadante, made reference today to the crisis in the Middle East, commenting that "the party, since it comes from a long-standing pacifist position, always respecting diplomacy to resolve conflicts, supports the decisions of the multilateral bodies. The UN determined inspection in Iraq in order to evaluate arms use and arsenals, and we are in support, because we have to erradicate all arsenals of mass destruction on the planet, to preserve the peace," said Mercadante, who is accompanying the president-elect on his trip to the United States.
