Brasília, December 10, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Beef exports totaled US$ 967.9 million this year, from January to November, a performance 6% superior to last year's, for the same period. In volume, foreign sales grew 14.9%, attaining 856.6 thousand tons in beef carcass equivalent, according to data contained in Livestock Indicators, published by the Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Confederation (CNA).
In a comparison between November, 2002, and November, 2001, exports increased 3.6% in value, to US$ 98.2 million, and 15.9% in volume, to 96.6 thousand tons in beef carcass equivalent.
The biggest buyers of refrigerated fresh beef were Chile and the Netherlands. For fresh frozen beef, the principal markets were Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Russia, the Philippines, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. (DAS)
