Brasília, November 28, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The leader of the Workers Party in the Chamber of Deputies, João Paulo Cunha, affirmed today that patronage in appointments to federal posts will be abolished in the administration of president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Cunha participated in a meeting of the PT bloc in the Chamber and the Senate, together with the president-elect, at a hotel in Brasília, and commented Lula's decision to create a data bank containing names of possible appointees to second and third level posts. According to the deputy, this is the most democratic way. He added that no one will have preference in indicating anyone for appointment to any post. (DAS)
