Porto Alegre, November 6, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Starting today and extending through November 10, the Brazilian Air Force will hold the largest military operation ever in the field of Aerospace Power. Called the Operaer 2002, it includes exercises, operations, and maneuvers in the Southern region of Brazil. For this war game, according to a communiqué released by the Aeronautics Command, the Southern region was divided vertically in half, and two fictitious countries, White and Blue, were created to oppose each other.

Besides the training in combat equipment, the Air Force intends to evaluate the remote war direction exercised by the Command and Control System, since the operational control center and the combat area are nearly two thousand kilometers apart, in a straight line.

All together, 91 fighter plans, in-flight refueling, helicopters, and other equipment are participating in the Operaer 2002. (DAS)
