Brasília – This weekend, president Dilma Rousseff made a quick visit to the city of Aguai, SP, to attend the funeral of an aunt, Diva da Silva Roas, who died at the age of 87. She was one of Dilma’s favorite aunts (the president’s mother had five brothers and sisters; her father, who came from Bulgaria, did not have any relatives in Brazil).
According to family and friends, aunt Diva visited Dilma weekly in the early 1970s when she was a political prisoner in São Paulo.
Aguai is located 200 kilometers from the city of São Paulo and has a population of 32,000.
