Brasília – In a speech in the city of Campinas, state of São Paulo, yesterday president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva reaffirmed the goals of his administration: economic stability and investments in infrastructure always with the objective of giving the more needy a better quality of life.

"We want a more just form of development. We do not corporations to make less, we want the worker to make a little more," said the president.

Lula once again said he did not intend to interfere with the exchange rate. He said the exchange rate would level off with further drops in interest rates and rigid control of inflation.

And he also stated that there will be no changes in overall economic policy. "Nothing is going to make me put everything we have done so far at risk just because of the elections," he declared.
