Brasília – The Haitian Temporary Election Board has set a new election date: February 7. The elections for president and the legislature, which have been postponed four times, will be organized and run by the election board, the UN and the Organization of American States (OAS).

One of the problems is that there are 3.5 million eligible voters in Haiti but only one million have been able to register. Although the vote is not mandatory in Haiti, voters have to be registered in order to cast ballots.
