Curitiba, 8/18/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Kraft Foods of Brasil has now officially joined the government's Zero Hunger program with the announcement that it will donate 2,000 tons of food to the program over the next four years.

According to the head of the Secretariat of Food Security and Hunger Combat, José Graziano, the company will also participate in other social projects linked to Zero Hunger, in the areas of education, jobs, professional training for workers and the generation of sustainable income.

Graziano declared that the objective of the Zero Hunger program is to extend a solidarity network throughout the country and that Kraft participation will help make that a reality. Kraft will donate its own products (mainly juices, chocolates and cheeses) on a monthly basis to the needy through food banks to be set up in six states.

Meanwhile, Kraft Foods of Brasil will continue to support other social assistance programs, such as Adopt a Community and the Pastoral for Children, and will remain active in producing what is known as a "multimix" - a combination of powdered food, dough and roasted seeds which is highly nutritional and is given to needy children around Brazil. Kraft runs a Food University in Curitiba and provides literacy programs with financial support, as well. (AB)
