José Abrão presents agrarian reform report to Pope John Paul II

Brasília, 19 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Minister of Agrarian Development, José Abrão, delivered a report on the activities of the Ministry over the past seven and a half years, yesterday (18), to Pope John Paul II in Rome. José Abrão emphasized the Brazilian government's efforts to eliminate violence in the countryside, improve the quality of life for family farmers, and develop activities to help rural workers in agrarian reform settlements achieve autonomy.

The Ministry's action plans to promote marketing included, in the last quarter, intensification of contacts with agencies responsible for regulating and certifying products in Europe, for the purpose of adapting Brazilian family farm documentation to the requirements of the European market. (DAS)
