Brasília – Last week Brazil joined 26 other nations on the board of governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency in voting for Iran to comply with the Nuclear Non- Proliferation Treaty.

In a note, the Ministry of Foreign Relations says Brazil is comitted to resolving all international questions of peace and security through dialogue and cooperation. The note goes on to explain that the referral to the UN Security Council is so that Iran will have an opportunity to show the world that its nuclear program is peaceful.

The note concludes by saying that Brazil respects the right of all country members to develop, research and produce nuclear energy for pacific ends.
