Brasília, November 22, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Minister of Foreign Relations, Celso Lafer, said yesterday that Brazil cannot be isolated on the international scene. "We want to create jobs, increase productivity and reduce our dependence on foreign capital. That requires stronger exports and a campaign to open markets," he said at a seminar on "The FTAA Option." He said Brazil had to participate in FTAA negotiations and when they are concluded decide if it would be worthwhile to join the economic block. (AB)
