Rio, November 21, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Monthly Employment Survey, released today by the IBGE, indicates the the average income of people with jobs stood at R$ 800.29 in September. In real terms, this represents a decline compared with August (-0.4%) and with September, 2001 (-2.2%).

By occupational categories, average income fell for formal employees (-1.9%), self-employed workers (-0.4%), and informal employees (-0.2%).

Between September, 2001, and September, 2002, average income fell for self-employed workers (-4.5%), informal employees (-2.5%), and formal employees (-1.8%). (DAS)
