Brasília, 25 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The president of theCentral Bank, Armínio Fraga, says that if there is no change in the economic scenario within the next few weeks, Brazil may close a new deal with the International Monetary Fund before the end of the year. "The decision on a new agreement will be made by Brazil. It all depends on Brazil wanting an agreement and working out the details," said Fraga yesterday.
Fraga did not go into details about any new agreement, but said the idea was for the next administration to take over without problems. "Today the situation requires us to take a defensive stance. But at the same time we must prepare for next year. We are fixing up things for the nexst administration so that the transition will be smooth," said Fraga. (AB)
