Rio, 23 (Agencia Brasil - ABr) - Today the first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Anne Krueger, will be in Brasília, for a meeting with president Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Yesterday Krueger met with the president of the Central Bank, Arminio Fraga, in Rio de Janeiro, for talks on a possible transition deal because of presidential elections this year in Brazil.
Fraga would not confirm the existence of a transition deal. But Krueger's visit is seen as a demonstration of support for Brazilian economic policies by both the IMF and the Bush administration. (AB)
