Brasília, 19 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Deputy Aloisio Mercadante (PT-SP), reports that in his talks with the president of the Central Bank, Arminio Fraga, he affirmed the commitment of the PT to maintain economic stability.

Mercadante declared that he delivered two proposals to Fraga which would help the country get through the second half: first, boost exports to outflank exchange rate volatility; and, second, get congress to approve a tax reform. Mercadante also said that in his opinion the decision to reduce interest rates was not "political." (AB)
