Rio, 19 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The city of Rio de Janeiro is training former convicts to be "Liberty Agents" who will assist other former convicts to once again become members of society, living with their families, getting a job and going back to school (by being enrolled in night classes in public schools.
During a first phase of the program, 160 former convicts will get R$100 (US$36) for a three-month period, and will be visited regularly by the Liberty Agents.
Former convicts who do not have any place to live will be housed in muncipal shelters or get a housing voucher. (AB)
