Brasília, 8 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Agrobusiness sector trade surplus was US$1.422 billion in June, with exports of US$ 1.759 billion and imports of US$ 337 million. In May the surplus was US$ 1.391 billion. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, 43.1% (US$ 4.079 billion) of Brazilian exports came from the farm sector. For the last 12 months, the surplus is US$ 17.9 billion, up 7.5% over the previous 12-month period.
In spite of the surplus, sales have slowed. Compared to June 2001, exports in June 2002 were down 22%. (AB)
