Brasília, 5 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The federal government is investing more and more in physical education in public schools, says minister of Sports and Tourism, Caio de Carvalho, as he signed contracts with 16 states for the implantation and operation of sports centers as part of the School Sports program.

The program is one of the priorities of Avança Brasil, with a budget of R$7.5 million (US$2.6 million) for purchase of sports material, uniforms and small infrastructure repairs. Each school in the program will receive R$5,000 (US$1,750). The goal is to make school more attractive and turn students into citizens, who will be more interested in teachers than drug dealers. (AB)
