Brasilia - The National Agency of Electrical Energy (Aneel) has announced a new auction of hydroelectric power plants – four of them - for July 30. The event has been dubbed the “A-5 Auction for procurement of power from hydroelectric generation.” The total generated power by the four plants will be slightly more than 1,000 MW.

According to the public notice for tender offers (“edital”), the power plants in the auction are Garibaldi (SC), with an output of 177.9 MW, Colíder (MT), with 300 MW, Ferreira Gomes (AP) with 252 MW and Santo Antonio do Jari (AP), with 300 MW.

Price caps (per megawatt hour) have been set by the GAO (“Tribunal de Contas da União – TCU”) at R$133 for Garibaldi, R$116 for Colíder, R$83 for Ferreira Gome and R$100 for Santo Antonio do Jari. Bidders must offer lower prices.
