Businesses will be able to contribute 1% of taxes to fight urban violence

Brasília, 17 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - A cooperation agreement signed yesterday will permit businesses to contribute 1% of their taxes to fight urban violence in designated high-risk areas, mainly where the Urban Violence Prevention Plan (Piaps) operates.

According to the head of the Office of Institutional Security, Alberto Cardoso, a total of R$150 million (US$52.6 million) could be raised annually through the agreement and invested in social programs: education, health, generation of income and jobs, sports, leisure and culture. (AB)
