Brasilia – The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, of the Organization of American States (OAS), is holding a public meeting this Monday (13), at the OAS headquarters, in Washington (USA), about the status of economic, social, cultural, and environmental rights in Brazil. The national report writers on Human Right to Adequate Housing, Lúcia Moraes, and on Human Right to the Environment, Lia Giraldo; plus the National Project Coordinator, Maria Elena Rodriguez; and an integrant of the Platform DheSCA Brasil, Marlene Libardoni, will participate in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Brazilians will denounce rights violation of the population affected by the construction of dams; of migrating workers of sugarcane crops; and of homeless families. They will also report cases of chemical contamination and the environmental impact caused by large development projects and the agribusiness expansion.
