Brazilian police arrest suspect in Hariri assassination

São Paulo – A Lebanese national, Rana Abdel Rahim Loleilat, who is accused by Interpol of participating in the assassination of the former prime minister of Lebanon, Rafic Hariri, in February 2005, has been arrested by police in São Paulo.

Loleilat has a long criminal record, according to Interpol. He is wanted for falsifying documents, robbery, fraud and emitting rubber checks.

When he was arrested, police report that he tried to bribe them with US$93,000.
