President of OAB wants to convoke Council of the Republic

São Paulo – The president of the Brazilian Bar Association (Ordem dos Advogados Brasileiros) (OAB), Roberto Busato, says he is in favor of convoking the Council of the Republic to deal with the political crisis the country is going through. The Council of the Republic is convoked exclusively by the president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and among its attributes is " the examination of relevant questions on the stability of democratic institutions."

Busato discussed the convocation with the new president of the PT, Tarso Genro, and made his idea public yesterday at a press conference. Busato declared that the convocation of the Council of the Republic could assist Lula is overcoming the crisis.

Meanwhile, Genro said it was a good idea and that he would discuss it with the PT.
