São Paulo - Serasa, the financial analysis and information organization, reports that this year, from January to June, there was an improvement in corporate finances, with regard to payment defaults and bankruptcies. According to Serasa, the number of bankruptcy requests was down over 28%, falling to 5,362, compared to 7,462 during the same period in 2004. Another indicator of an improved situation was the ratio of requests for bankruptcy to actual bankruptcies, which fell from 3.2 in 2004, to 2.5 this year.
As for the number of bankruptcies that actually occurred, it was down 8.4% (2,142 this year, compared to 2,338 in 2004).
