Brasília – On Friday the Ministry of Foreign Relations released a note expressing apprehension with regard to the increase in tension in Israel and the Palestinain territories as a result of a succession of violent acts causing the deaths of civilians, including a Brazilian-Israeli, Dana Galkowicz. She was killed by a missile fired at the kibbutz of Netiv Ha'asara, in southern Israel where she lived.
In the note, the Brazilian government calls on all the parties involved to avoid initiatives that could compromise the exit of Israeli defense forces from Gaza, the deactivation of Israeli settlements in that area and its transfer to administration by the Palestinian National Authority, all of which is scheduled to take place in August.
Itamaraty concludes the note by expressing condolences to the family of Dana Galkowicz, and all the families of other victims of violence in the region.
