Brasília – A Parliamentary Investigative Commission (CPI) has been installed in the Senate to look into the use of bingo games in money laundering and other illegal activities.

Attempts to install the Bingo CPI began last year when Waldomiro Diniz, a top aide to the presidential chief of staff, was filmed negotiating a bribe with an underworld figure known as Charlie Waterfall who has been involved in lotteries and gambling. Diniz has been charged with "a lack of administrative probity" by federal prosecutors.

The leader of the opposition party PFL in the Senate, Jose Agripino (RN), says that the Bingo CPI is going to clear up the questions people have about corruption in Brazil.
