Brasília - With the creation of 130,159 new formal-market jobs in October, an increase of 0.52% compared to September, a cumulative total of 1,796,347 jobs have been created this year, January to October, in Brazil.
According to minister of Labor, Ricardo Berzoini, most of the new jobs have been in the manufacturing, commerce and services sectors.
However, because of seasonal effects, only 1,531,133 jobs were created during the last twelve months. The reason that number is smaller than the January to October number is that in December 2003 and January 2004, a total of 300,000 jobs vanished; something that happens at the end of the holiday season every year. Even so, the total is 6.51% higher than for the prior twelve month period.
