Rio - Production in the industrial sector remained in expansion during the month of September in all the sector segments surveyed (Pesquisa Industrial - Produção Física Regional), by the government statistical bureau (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística) (IBGE).

Compared to September 2003, industrial production rose in Ceará (21.3%), Paraná (19.2%), São Paulo (14.6%), Santa Catarina (12.5%), Pará (12.3%) and Goiás (12.1%) - all above the national average (7.6%). In the following states production was up, but below the national average: Minas Gerais (6.2%), Amazonas (5.9%), Bahia (3.5%), Rio de Janeiro (2.9%), Pernambuco (2.1%), Espírito Santo (1.9%) and Rio Grande do Sul (1.9%).
