Brasília - Taxes and federal contributions collected in July amounted to US$ 9.394 billion (R$ 28.154 billion), the second best result so far this year, outdone only by January's receipts of US$ 9.741 billion (R$ 29.193 billion). The result also represents an historical record for the month of July. The total for the year, US$ 60.694 billion (R$ 181.899 billion), is also the biggest ever.

The Deputy Secretary of the Federal Revenue Office, Ricardo Pinheiro, informed that the positive figures that have been piling up over the course of the year have induced the government to study reducing the tax burden in two sectors: informatics and social security.

"There is an interest on the part of the government to promote, insofar as possible, a reduction of taxes to improve the quality of the Brazilian economy. We are considering something with regard to the informatics sector, more precisely the software sector, as well as in the area of private social security funds," he said.
