São Paulo - Total beef exports, "in natura" and industrialized, reached 170,674 tons for revenue of US$224.7 million in July. For the twelve month period from August 2003 to July 2004, beef export revenue is up 62% over the prior twelve month period. The volume of beef exported rose 27.3%.

Brazilian in natura beef exports reached historical highs in July, with both volume and revenue up significantly. Compared to the same period in 2003, revenue practically doubled to US$176.7 million (an increase of exactly 92.97%). The country exported 117,926 tons of in natura beef in July.

According to the president of the beef exporters association (ABIEC), Pratini de Morais, one reason for the stellar performance is the opening of new markets in places like Algeria.
