Industrial production has risen 6.5% in first half

Rio, 7/14/2004 (Agência Brasil) - Brazilian industrial production closed out the first six months of 2004 with record growth of 6.5%. For the last 12 months, growth reached 2.8%, according to the government statistical bureau (IBGE).

May industrial output growth, compared to April, was 2.2%. That was the third consecutive month of growth. The IBGE reports that its monthly survey for May found growth in 18 out of 23 industrial segments.

May growth, compared to May 2003, was even more significant: up 7.8%.
