Recife, March 19, 2004 (Agência Brasil) - The government of the Brazilian state of Pernambuco will step up its war against human trafficking, with help from the British government. A group of 30 members of the Pernambuco military, scientific, and civil police forces will be trained by British police inspector, Christopher Arnold.
The initiative is part of the program of the II International Encounter for the Prevention and Control of Human Trafficking, which is being held in Recife, capital of Pernambuco, with the participation of Brazilian and foreign experts.
Data from the United Nations indicate that human trafficking is the third most lucrative illegal business in the world, trailing only drug trading and arms dealing.
