Industrial production rose 0.8% in January

Rio, 3/11/2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Brazilian industrial production was up 0.8% in January, compared to December. Compared to January 2003, the increase was 1.7%.

According to the government statistical bureau (Insituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística) (IBGE), the January increase was based on rises in production in 17 out of 20 sectors surveyed.

Cumulatively, over the last 12 months ending in January, industrial production is down 0.3%. (AB)
