Brazil and US expand joint actions in food safety

Brasília, March 10, 2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Brazil and the United States should expand their programs of cooperation in the area of food safety. John Cherry, director of the Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), the US government's agricultural research agency, and Airdem Assis, coordinator of the LABEX/EUA, met with a team of Embrapa researchers and technicians to discuss new partnership opportunities.

The American researcher visited the Embrapa Caprine Center, based in the city of Sobral, in Ceará. There he toured the processing plant for goat milk and the nutrition and meat technology laboratories in the Advanced Biology Nucleus.

During his visit, Cherry sampled products made of goat milk and goat meat and mutton derivatives produced by Embrapa. (DAS)
