Brasília, March 11, 2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - 180 directors of police academies and educational coordinators of civil, military, and fire department police forces are meeting in Brasília to discuss proposals for an integrated training system. The 1st Curricular Grid Meeting, at the National Police Academy, will continue through March 12. The opening, Monday (9), was attended by the Minister of Justice, Márcio Thomaz Bastos.

The purpose of the Grid is to assemble a single educational system for all police forces and other organs that make up the Public Safety System in the states. The idea is to promote integration and contribute to the quest for solutions to problems identified in the training of police officers, as well as strengthening the dialogue among police agencies and between them and society. The Ministry of Justice expects the new Curricular Grid to be adopted by the end of this semester in state police academies. (DAS)
