Government of Rio distributes 62 tons of medications to municipalities

Rio, March 3, 2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - On Tuesday (2) the government of the state of Rio began the distribution of 62 tons of medications to the 92 municipalities in the state. The 12 trucks carrying more than 70 thousand boxes of remedies departed from the Guanabara Palace immediately after the end of the ceremony that marked the re-inauguration of the Rio Has Medicine program.

The medications, produced by the Vital Brazil Institute and other government laboratories, are for ambulatory use and are considered fundamental for basic care of the population, such as analgesics, antibiotics, antihypertensives, and drugs for the control of heart disease. The investment totaled R$ 1.8 million. (DAS)
