High security, cutting edge laboratory is inaugurated in Recife

Recife - Today minister of Health, Humberto Costa, inaugurates the country's first public (government-run) high security, cutting-edge medical laboratory at the Aggeu Magalhães Research Center in Recife. The center will be part of the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, Fiocruz.

The lab cost R$2 million in funds obtained from the World Bank. It will be capable of working safely with viruses and bacterias in the search for cures to diseases, such as tuberculosis. (AB)
