Congress gets back to work this week

Brasília – After two weeks of "white recess," as a period without work is called when the period is not a vacation period, Congress goes back to work this week. On the agenda the PPP bill (public - private sector partnerships) and the new rules for the electricity sector.

However, due to procedural rules, in the Chamber of Deputies a total of eight temporary measures (medidas provisiorios) will have to be voted on first. They have priority and have created a choking point in the legislative agenda.

The situation in the Senate is similar. A series of MPs have to be voted on before they can get to new bills, such as the bill on new electricity sector rules. (AB)
