Curitiba, February 23, 2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The port of Paranaguá, in the state of Paraná, will be the major export depot for Brazilian cotton. Calculations by the Mato Grosso Cotton Growers Association (Ampa) show that this year the majority of the 450 thousand tons produced in the country will be shipped abroad through the terminal in Paraná.

Asia and Europe are currently the biggest buyers of Brazilian cotton, but a good part of the international trading companies that usually acquire the product in the United States, Australia, and Argentina, are now choosing to substitute Brazil for these sources. (DAS)
