IGP-M rises 0.47% in second sample period of February

Brasília - Inflation as measured by the General Market Price Index (IGP-M) rose 0.47% in the second sample period of February, up from an increase of 0.08% in the first sample period.

During the period of the survey, wholesale prices (IPA) rose 0.48%, pushed by industrial prices which jumped 1.15%. Consumer prices (retail prices as measured by the IPC) were up 0.47%, pushed up by Education, Reading and Recreation, up 1.82%. Finally, construction costs (INCC) rose 0.38%.

This brings the cumulative increase in the IGP-M for the year to 1.35%, and 5.27% for the last 12 months. (AB)
