Brasília, 2/19/2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Minister of Political Coordination and Institutional Affairs (Coordenação Política e Assuntos Institucionais), Aldo Rebelo, says that up to now there are no signs of any misconduct by Waldomiro Diniz during the period he was in the government as the Deputy Secretary for Congressional Liaison, from January 2003 to February 2004, when he was fired after a video tape of him asking for payoffs was made public.

Rebelo explained that it has been decided to move ahead with an internal investigation of Diniz's activities while he was in the government, "Because that is the government's duty and we jjust want to make sure." Rebelo promised that the investigation will be complete and independent. (AB)
